What is a Class A Motorhome?

Class A motorhomes can greatly improve your camping experience. They’re some of the most luxurious RVs available! Motorhomes have their own drivetrain, meaning they do not have to be towed. Specifically, Class A models are the largest option with a bus-like chassis and a large panoramic windshield.

The Size of a Class A 

You’ll immediately be drawn to the sheer size of these motorhomes! The largest models are diesel powered, but you can select gasoline engines if you prefer. 

On average, Class A motorhomes are anywhere between 30 and 45 feet long. They typically have higher ceilings and if you choose a model with slideouts, you’ll really have a home on the road! 

This option is particularly great for anyone who travels in large groups or has a large family. You won’t feel crammed together and you can find layouts that offer plenty of privacy for everyone. 

Driving a Class A

Due to the size of these RVs, you will go through a small learning curve to drive them. The center of gravity is higher, so you’ll have to be extra careful around curves and turns. Along with the different experience with gravity, you’ll also be driving with an air brake system. Air brakes are better for a vehicle this large, but you’ll need to accommodate by giving yourself more time to stop. 

Even if you’re comfortable driving a large rig, it’s important to build your skills and practice before going on long trips.
